A Taper point needle consists of a gradual taper to a point from a round bodied needle. A Taper point needle pierces and expands or stretches the tissue without cutting. The tip is used for easily penetrating tissue (e.g. subcutaneous layers, dura, peritonium and abdominal viscera) and minimises the possible tearing of the fascia.
